May 11 2022, 3:53 PM

Education and Training Resources (ETR) has been awarded the new contract for the continued operation of the Northlands Job Corps Center. This is the result of a competitive procurement process, with the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, Office of Job Corps. ETR, headquartered in Bowling Green, KY, has been a partner with both the U.S Department of Labor, City of Vergennes, and Addison County communities since 2018 for the management of the Northlands Center.

Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 50 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964. At Job Corps, students have access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years. In addition to helping students complete their education, obtain career technical skills and gain employment, Job Corps also provides transitional support services, such as help finding employment, housing, child care, and transportation. Job Corps graduates either enter the workforce or an apprenticeship, go on to higher education, or join the military.

According to Brian Fox, ETR President/CEO, “ETR is very much honored and proud to be selected by the USDOL to continue the management and operation of the Northlands Job Corps Center. ETR would like to thank each of our staff and students for their dedication to the Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of the Job Corps Program, which includes promoting and providing academic and career technical training pathways for our students in order to achieve their postsecondary and employment related goals. Even more, ETR would like to thank the City of Vergennes and each of our community and employer partners for helping to transform the Northlands Job Corps Center into one of the most improved Job Corps centers in the nation.”
