State employees who can work from home should expect to continue doing so until March 31, 2021, at the earliest.
Gov. Phil Scott in late March first ordered state employees to telecommute unless their job required them to show up in person to maintain essential government functions, and state employees were told in August that they could expect to telework until at least the end of the year.
On Friday, Secretary of Administration Susanne Young said the status quo would stretch until the spring.
“By maintaining our current telework status and continued flexible work schedules for those at the worksite, we are mitigating risks to our success in schools and ongoing economic recovery efforts while we look forward to the roll out of a vaccine,” Young said in a statement.
Some state workers have returned from telework to provide onsite services where required, such as the district offices of the Department of Motor Vehicles. These in-person operations remain open, Young noted.
