The state’s push to add more testing sites continued this week, and will expand further next week.
Mike Smith, secretary of the Agency of Human Services, said on-demand testing sites opened last week in Brattleboro, Burlington, Middlebury, Rutland and Waterbury.
This week, testing sites are being opened in Berlin, Bennington, Fairlee, Newport, Northfield, St. Johnsbury and Stratton.
Next week, sites will open in Morrisville, Springfield, White River Junction and a location in Franklin County that’s being finalized now.
Tests are available at those locations seven days a week, both daytime and evenings, and are free of charge.
Plus, pop-up testing is being conducted sporadically when hotspots develop in particular communities.
Registration is coming online for the new on-demand test locations, Smith said.
Smith said the state locations tested more than 41,000 people in seven days with a rolling average of more than 6,000 a day.
