The Department of Health reported 45 new cases of the coronavirus on Sunday, bringing the total cases confirmed in Vermont since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,889.

The report follows a broad set of new restrictions, including a ban on multi-household gatherings, announced by Gov. Phil Scott on Friday in response to the rising growth in cases.

New cases were reported Sunday in 12 counties:

  • Washington: 13
  • Chittenden: 11
  • Lamoille 3
  • Windham: 3
  • Lamoille: 3
  • Bennington: 2
  • Caledonia: 2
  • Franklin 2
  • Orange 2
  • Rutland 1
  • Windsor: 1
  • Addison: 1
  • Essex: 0
  • Grand Isle: 0

As of Sunday, 20 people were hospitalized with confirmed cases of Covid-19, with one in intensive care.

To date, 59 people have died with the illness, the last reported on Nov. 7.

The state reported that 474,928 tests have been administered for the illness in Vermont since mid-March, an increase of 6,894 from Friday. As of Sunday, 200,034 people have been tested. The seven-day positivity rate is 1.4%.
