To Darryl Benjamin: Being a senior citizen in Vermont, I take issue with the blatant ageism of your commentary.

Sure, Florida attracts the over-65 crowd who, like your wife, are sick of the cold. It also attracts lots of much younger people for the same reason. I cringe every time I hear some under-65 person whine about Vermont winter weather. What else should they expect, living in northern New England.

Your ageism also overlooks the Vermont style of Trumper, the under-50 crowd with pick/ups bearing “(Screw) Biden” and “Trump 2024” banners, not stickers. Or the under-50 white males in Newport who declared”My body, my right.” The irony!

In contrast, Rutland County is having a hard time finding Democratic candidates. Or people to run committees or raise money for campaigns. A typical meeting shows lots of gray hair.

So please try to be more open-minded and stop ”screaming” at people who disagree with you. You might even change some hearts and minds with better manners.
