I cannot imagine opening up Vermont, even as much as we have, while our daily numbers continue to be in three digits. School kids are being sickened, teachers were not given an immediate place in the vaccination plan, therefore school should not open for classes in schools until September, when hopefully all these problems will be diminished.

As a retired teacher, having worked as a preschool director, a public school teacher in a larger school district and a private school in Vermont, I have been observing school kid activity in many grade levels and am disturbed to think they may be back in enclosed classrooms.

As the picture with the article of the restaurant illustrated what human gatherings look like, social activities need to be limited to vaccinated indivduals in small groups.

I am aware of the problems of parents with children who cannot keep their jobs, the financial hardships involved and the frustration of being cooped up with one’s children for long periods of time. Vermont woud better serve the public with organized help through social services for all those families so affected. Better to spend money keeping people alive than inviting serious illness which could eventually end those businesses where they are providing services, as well as the lives of those who work in them
