I have been following the news concerning the proposed new Burlington High School with great interest as I am a graduate of BHS and the local college community. Evidently, there is no greater need right now than a new institute of higher education as apparently everyone who has ever graduated is inept and uneducated. I can see no other reason why we hired an out-of-state architect when there are many qualified firms in the area.
Then to add insult to injury we thumbed our noses at the local firms and hired an out-of-state contractor who will undoubtedly hire out-of-state subcontractors that will purchase their materials from out-of-state suppliers. I find it sad that the people of Burlington will be expected to shoulder the tax burden of supporting the state of Massachusetts. Perhaps the Burlington voters will think twice about where their hard-earned tax dollars are going when they get to the polls.
