After police responded to reports of a “melee” among spectators at the Alburgh Community Education Monday night, a 60-year-old man sought medical care and was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to police.

Key state senators are proposing a constitutional amendment that would establish qualifications for sheriffs, on top of a bill that could get rid of sheriffs’ administrative fee for contract work their departments undertake.

Police are looking for Danny Daniels, 30, of Philadelphia in connection with a drug robbery and fatal shooting last month of 49-year-old Israel Jimenez Lugo, according to Vermont State Police.


New arrest made in connection with November’s Valley Street raid in Springfield

James Hines, 53, was arrested last week and charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and crack cocaine. He’s the fifth person indicted on those charges. A sixth individual has been added to the indictment, but the person’s name is redacted.
