Bean bag firing incident leads to criminal charges against 2 troopers, according to union

The Vermont Attorney General’s Office has directed Vermont State Police to cite the troopers for simple assault and reckless endangerment following an incident that took place last summer in Windham County, according to the Vermont Troopers’ Association.

Corrections commissioner denies records appeal, keeps ID of out-of-state prison bidder secret

Nicholas Deml, commissioner of the state Department of Corrections, affirmed an earlier decision that the identity of the sole bidder for housing incarcerated Vermonters outside the state is confidential until a deal is finalized. Negotiations on that deal remain underway.

Federal prosecutors moved to dismiss a federal charge against Jeffrey Nolan on Friday, citing a plea agreement filed in state court to state arson charges Nolan had been facing. The state plea agreement calls for a probationary sentence, according to court filings.


‘I can’t believe he shot me’: Road maintenance dispute prompted shooting, police say

Robert Morrell pleaded not guilty Friday to a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police said he shot Kevin Temple on Thursday afternoon on a road where both men live in Montgomery.
