Contrary to what some legislators claim, China and India are not responsible for our climate crisis.
The facts are clear when it comes to greenhouse gas emissions: Per person, China produces half of what we here in America produce, and India one-eighth. Furthermore, the people in these (and many other) countries are suffering the consequences of our historical emissions, which are singularly immense.
Don’t be fooled by those who want to diminish our own responsibility by falsely indicting others. Our duty when it comes to climate change is to accept the facts and responsibility, and find the courage and wisdom to be a leader in what is the biggest challenge the modern world has ever faced.
