Regarding the Readsboro Central School issue:

I am a 63-year-old woman who attended a two-room schoolhouse in New Hampshire for grades 1-6 in the 1960s. There was no kindergarten. Each room had three grades and 1 teacher. I do not remember it being a problem.

The teachers were strict and made sure that the classroom rules were followed and that our work was done. The only issue I see for present day is that tiny schools may not have the technology a larger school would have. That can be a pretty big deal in today’s world.

I was fortunate to receive six years of attention from a teacher! Later in life, that included huge classes at large universities that sometimes contain hundreds of students. You can forget about getting to know your professor or getting a recommendation from them when the time comes.

There is a lot to be said about a small school. I am sorry to see them going away.
