Dear Reader,

The last week of the legislative session is always a busy one, especially on a beat in which consequential bills can face an uncertain fate up until the final minutes before adjournment. Last week was no exception, with bills ping-ponging between the House and Senate chambers up until the last moment, and some of this year’s most consequential deals struck in the 11th hour.

VTDigger is fortunate to be Vermont’s largest newsroom, and with our talented roster of reporters, we’ve been able to stay on top of this year’s most important policy conversations — from plans to solve Vermont’s housing crisis, to investments to patch up a broken child care system, to the state’s role in tackling climate change, to reproductive health care and more.

We also like to have some fun here. Our politics newsletter, Final Reading, is delivered to subscribers’ inboxes every day the Legislature is in session, highlighting the top Statehouse news of the day with a healthy dose of humor on the side.

If you value VTDigger’s legislative coverage, you have an opportunity right now to show your support for it by making a contribution today.

This month, it’s our goal to inspire 2,500 readers to support our news coverage during our spring member drive. I’ve been told we are more than halfway there.

As a bonus, a Vermont child will receive a book from our partners at the Children’s Literacy Foundation for every donation we receive.

Thanks for reading and supporting our political coverage,

Sarah Mearhoff
