BRATTLEBORO — Authorities have identified the victim of a Thursday night shooting they have ruled to be a homicide.

Tamico Williams, 21, of Hartford, Connecticut, died of wounds to the torso, according to an autopsy completed Saturday by the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington.

Authorities said they received a 911 call shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday reporting the sound of gunfire at a residence at 14 Birge Street.

Responding, Brattleboro Police found Williams dead inside an apartment.

Members of the Vermont State Police’s Crime Scene Search Team and Narcotics Investigation Unit arrived the next morning to take over the investigation.

“Information that detectives have developed so far indicates the shooting appears to be a targeted act,” state police said in a written statement Saturday.

Authorities said they have yet to take anyone into custody.
