Vermont State Police are investigating what they have called a “suspicious death” in Brattleboro. 

According to a press release issued Thursday night, authorities received a report of gunfire at a residence on Birge Street around 7:50 p.m. Brattleboro police responding to the 911 call found a man’s body inside the apartment and alerted the state police.

The victim’s identity was unknown at the time the press release was issued, according to police.

The man’s body is set to be brought to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
