In response to high schoolers demanding that S. 5, the Affordable Heat Act, be passed, they have never had to pay the heat bill to stay warm. It is easy to say we need action, but we need it to be affordable.
Vermont already ranks third in most expensive living expenses for retirees. This act passing may put us to No. 1.
Some of us have minimal options for heating other than oil. Forcing us to spend huge amounts of money to get heat pumps that don’t work very well for heating is not a solution that works.
We need realistic options and solutions to affordable heating, not being forced into unaffordable poor quality options.
