The recent mayoral and aldermen election in Rutland was heavily influenced by a local PAC. This was progressive funding in a community that tends to be more conservative.

The influence of this campaign money echoes what we saw in last year’s congressional race, in which Becca Balint’s million dollars from the now-convicted Nishad Singh helped her win a congressional seat.

This is a far cry from the days of Sen. George Aiken, who accepted donations only from individual Vermonters.
