I am a retired librarian who is dismayed at the decision to close the Vermont State Colleges libraries.

I do agree that many of today’s young people have enough digital in their lives. I also think that, in certain fields of study, like history, digitized materials are not available.

What do students do then? Go to another college that has books on paper or librarians to interlibrary loan materials that are not available locally?

This decision is facile and not well thought out.
