State authorities are investigating the death of a 76-year-old woman found lifeless outside her home in Rupert on Saturday, Vermont State Police said in a press release.

The woman is believed to have died from exposure to the elements following a fall, said Trooper Nicholas Grimes. Her body was reportedly discovered in the driveway of her home along Sykes Hollow Road.

Investigators preliminarily consider her death accidental, rather than a result of foul play. Vermont’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of her death.

Police said they are withholding the woman’s name until her relatives have been notified of her death.
