There are only nine days left in our annual drive and all gifts up to $1,000 are being matched by supporters from Brookfield, Hanover and North Bennington.

Dear Reader,

What does it take to keep Vermonters informed about the state they call home? A whole lot of talented journalists working their tails off to deliver the news.

If you value our work, will you join us with a one-time or monthly member donation at the level that is right for you? Your support will go twice as far, thanks to our matching donors.

Every day at VTDigger begins with reporters and editors gathering to pitch stories and plan our coverage. We discuss the tips and questions our readers send us, and we ask one another what stories we’re missing.

Our staff spend the day reporting in the field, analyzing data, calling sources, documenting public meetings, photographing subjects and recording podcast interviews. Our editors work closely with them — honing pitches, talking through problems, editing stories, re-editing stories, fact-checking them and copy-editing them.

By the time we’ve published our last story of the night and scheduled the next morning’s newsletter, it’s almost time to start again.

To do this work requires a great deal of energy, commitment and teamwork. It also requires your support.

If you can, please join the drive and help us reach our goal before New Year’s Eve. And whether you can give $10 or $100, your gift will be matched and we will send 10 meals to the Vermont Foodbank on your behalf.

Thank you for reading and supporting VTDigger. It’s a privilege to work for you and our fellow Vermonters.
