Dear Reader,

We know that strong local journalism contributes to more accountable governance, greater civic engagement and a shared sense of community. Nonprofit newsrooms like VTDigger can’t do this work without member support.

We also know the public health and economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic have exacerbated existing societal issues, throwing more people than ever into precarious circumstances.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, about one in ten Vermonters reported struggling with access to food. Now that number is two in five, worse than in either 2020 or 2021.

That’s why VTDigger is partnering with the Vermont Foodbank again this year for our annual membership drive. Please join us today and send 10 meals to neighbors in need.

For every donation received, VTDigger will donate the cost of 10 meals to the Vermont Foodbank. Our goal is to send 40,000 meals from 4,000 members by December 31. Right now, we need 250 members to join us by Friday in order to stay on track.

If you rely on VTDigger’s nonprofit news coverage in these uncertain times, please support our reporting with a donation today. Your gift will also help Vermonters who are struggling to afford enough food.

Thank you for reading and for caring about the people of our state.

With gratitude,

Florencio Terra

Membership Manager, VTDigger
