VTDigger is humbled that 4,300 readers stepped up to join our 2021 annual membership drive, exceeding our goal and sending more than 40,000 meals to the Vermont Foodbank. Because of the generosity of our members, VTDigger’s capacity to produce top-notch reporting for Vermont is stronger than ever.

The end of the year is an intense time for our news organization as we set our goals and budget needs for the next 12 months. Year end also marks the most critical time for our fundraising to help us reach those goals and sustain our nonprofit reporting.

We can’t thank you, our readers, enough for your support of our mission of public service journalism. Your support takes so many forms, from member donations large and small, to notes of encouragement, questions, tips, letters to the editor and commentaries. VTDigger simply wouldn’t be possible without you.

If you haven’t already, we invite you to take a moment and look through the year in photos. As we reflect on events of the past year, Vermonters’ resilience and strength stand out against the many challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic and its impacts.

Whatever 2022 brings, VTDigger will be here for you. We’re covering the new legislative session and bringing you all the inside scoops with our Final Reading newsletter (sign up for free here). You can rely on us for breaking stories, beat reporting on state government, plus in-depth reporting on Covid-19, full statewide coverage of Town Meeting Day, and news about the 2022 elections.

And did we mention that we’re hiring? VTDigger is currently in search of a Director of Donor Engagement, a Director of Membership and Analytics and a Head of People to support the work of our newsroom. On the editorial side, we’re looking for a Senior Editor to strengthen the desk.

Every journalist here is committed to providing daily and investigative reporting on the issues that matter most to Vermonters. If you have a tip, question or story suggestion, don’t hesitate to email us at contact@vtdigger.org, contact a reporter directly, or use our confidential tip drop form

Again, VTDigger would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to our new and long-time members for supporting this work and helping us end 2021 on a high note.

VTDigger's founder and editor-at-large.
