This commentary is by Ariel Brewer Louis, of Woodstock, who has a Ph.D. in neuroscience and studied the neural basis of drug addiction in Paris, before stepping away from the field in order to raise her three children full time. She is currently a board certified lactation consultant.

[J]essie Leyse, MD, recently stated in a VTDigger commentary, “Parents sometimes worry their child is getting a lot of vaccines all at once, but there have been innumerable studies about the safety of following the vaccine schedule.”

In fact, there hasn’t been a single study evaluating the safety of the entire vaccine schedule. Not even in laboratory mice. The vaccines on the schedule have only been tested for safety individually, by vaccine manufacturers who profit from their continued use. Without proper safety studies of the entire schedule, we are completely in the dark about the cumulative effects on the body.

There is mounting scientific evidence showing that vaccine ingredients such as aluminum can accumulate in the body and are in fact not quickly excreted, as previously thought. If aluminum accumulates, it can have additive, detrimental effects on neurological and immunological function as the child grows and receives more vaccines, and studies show this very well may be the case. Research shows that instead of being immediately excreted, aluminum is swallowed up by immune cells at the injection site, carried throughout the body, and deposited in tissues, including the brain. World-renowned experts on aluminum Drs. Romain Gherardi and Dr. Christopher Exley state, “To date, aluminum adjuvants per se have, perhaps surprisingly, not been the subject of any official experimental investigation, and this being in spite of the well-established neurotoxicity of aluminum.” A new study to be published in the July edition of the Journal of Trace Elements in Medicine and Biology states, “Our calculations show that the levels of aluminum suggested by the currently used limits place infants at risk of acute, repeated, and possibly chronic exposures of toxic levels of aluminum in modern vaccine schedules.” Even the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services states that there are “no studies on the long-term effects of aluminum exposure on skeletal maturation or neurotoxicity.” This should be alarming to every parent.

The primary role of aluminum in a vaccine is to stimulate a robust immune response to a particular pathogen. According to the CDC, allergies and autoimmune conditions are an overreaction of the immune system. Conditions such as asthma, allergies, chronic ear infections, and neurodevelopment disorders are everywhere we look in children today. It is logical to assume that the repeated manipulation of the immune system by vaccination early in life may set up a child for a lifetime of immune system dysregulation. The CDC also admits that infections can induce autoimmune disease. By design, vaccines are intentional infections. The CDC claims that there is no connection, however they have never actually assessed the health effects of the entire vaccine schedule and individually safety tested vaccine ingredients. Furthermore, the FDA allows every new vaccine to be compared to other vaccines or aluminum during safety testing, not a true inert placebo. How is this accepted to be sound science by the medical community when comparing a drug to a placebo is one of the most basic tenets of the scientific method?

Part of the reason why parents are concerned about too many shots too soon is because real answers as to why chronic health conditions are becoming so common have not been provided other than the general answer that our genes are negatively interacting with our environment. With regard to autism spectrum disorder, even the CDC admits that there is “evidence that the critical period for developing ASD occurs before, during, and immediately after birth.” Maybe we can start by checking the health effects of the entire vaccine schedule since after all, vaccines are an environmental substance administered before and immediately after birth.

Dr. Leyse suggested that parents are questioning vaccine safety because they heard something on a talk show or on the news. But the truth is, parents are questioning vaccine safety in spite of what they hear on a talk show or on the news. They are seriously questioning the safety of vaccines because they are hitting the medical literature in earnest and reading the “innumerable” studies showing how in fact unsafe vaccines can be. They are also questioning vaccine safety because many have learned the hard way when the health of their child seriously begins to deteriorate shortly following a series of shots.

With the ever-expanding schedule, vaccines are only added, never removed. Children already receive three times as many vaccines as those born in the ’70s and ’80s. Are they actually healthier today as a result? Perhaps it depends on how we define “health,” and oftentimes it is defined by health departments merely by the number of kids up to date on their vaccines. How will we know if and when we’ve reached a tipping point if the proper studies have never been done?
