JODI KANTOR OF THE NEW YORK TIMES TO SPEAK AT VERMONT WOMEN’S FUND BENEFIT ON MAY 3RD
MIDDLEBURY, VT – The Vermont Women’s Fund’s annual benefit will be held May 3, 2016 at the University of Vermont Davis Center in Burlington, VT. The celebrated event features guest speaker Jodi Kantor, an author and award-winning journalist from The New York Times. Moderating the evening will be Jane Lindholm, from Vermont Public Radio.
Kantor is known for her reporting covering politics, gender, and the workplace. Her 2006 article about working mothers and breastfeeding, “On the Job, Nursing Mothers Find a 2-Class System” inspired two Vermont women to create Mamava, a manufacturer of freestanding lactation suites for nursing mothers. Kantor has also investigated the working conditions at Amazon, sexism at Harvard Business School, and covered two presidential campaigns.
The benefit also spotlights Change the Story, an initiative of the Vermont Women’s Fund, the Vermont Commission on Women, and Vermont Works for Women. This collaboration aims to fast-track women’s economic well-being in Vermont. For more information, see www.changethestoryvt.org
The Vermont Women’s Fund is a statewide philanthropic resource focused on support for young women and girls ages 12-25. The fund awards grants annually to nonprofits whose programs work with this age population, with a special emphasis on job skill development and financial literacy. See www.vermontwomensfund.org
The May 3rd benefit runs from 5:30-7:30 pm. Tickets are $50 per person and are available online at www.vermontcf.org/May3
