BURLINGTON, VERMONT, July 15, 2014:
Tom Torti, President of the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Emily Piper, Executive Director of LaunchVT recently presented Shane Scranton and Nate Beatty of IrisVR with a $25,000 check. IrisVR is the 2014 winner of the LaunchVT business pitch competition. IrisVR is an immersive design and presentation tool that sends 3D models into virtual reality. The LaunchVT competition awards cash and in-kind resources to young entrepreneurs who deliver plans for a new business enterprise that demonstrates exceptional potential in today’s market.
Upon receiving the funds, Scranton explained that the LaunchVT prize package has allowed Iris VR to bring on three summer interns; expand their marketing push to include company re-branding, conference exhibitions, and media publicity; and purchase hardware and software for their office. Scranton went on to comment that they “are honored to have IrisVR selected as the 2014 LaunchVT winner. It was great to meet other local entrepreneurs and to hear about their experiences growing a business in Vermont. LaunchVT's award package has helped establish our company in the startup community in Vermont and the prize money has accelerated our company's growth over the summer.”
Torti commented that “the LaunchVT competition is really a sign of what Vermont does best. We bring together resources to make something happen and in this case, it is Vermont’s business community working together to ensure that the next generation of job creators is here and thriving. The Chamber is really pleased to be the home for LaunchVT and we’re already thinking about what great ideas next year’s entrepreneurs have in store.”
