NECI at the National Restaurant Association Food Show

Montpelier, Vermont – May 13, 2014

This past year, New England Culinary Institute had seen its banner flown far and wide, largely as a result of the traveling of Chief Operating Officer and Executive Chef Jean Louis Gerin. New York City is a frequent destination while Nashville, Boston, Washington, DC, Las Vegas, Connecticut received Gerin in the last few months as well. In May, Gerin flies the NECI banner at the National Restaurant Association annual show in Chicago, indisputably the largest show of its kind in the North America.

“Going to the NRA food show is like going to see the latest and greatest of everything in food and hospitality. Everyone is there from producers, manufacturers, software companies…everyone! Oh, and there are lots of samples to try,” said Gerin. “This is absolutely the perfect place for NECI to be. We have alumni throughout the show in a wide variety of industries. It is a testament to the fact that with a culinary degree, there are a huge number of career options.”

Joining Gerin, Chef Peg Checchi, Chair of NECI’s Online Education program, represents the new wave of education over the internet for industry professionals who need college credits and degrees to advance their careers. “There are plenty of budding professionals here at every level and background. Frequently, though, it is people who work for a corporation and need an additional level of education to climb the next rung on the ladder,” says Checchi. “That’s why we’re here: offering specialized educational options without leaving a full-time job.”

The NRA Show runs from Saturday, May 17 through Tuesday, May 20. The NECI booth is located in the North Hall of McCormick Place, #9183.
