VTDigger launches membership program

To our loyal readers:

We know how much you care about Vermont, and we believe the news we publish every day helps you stay on top of the issues that help to shape the state’s future.

In 2013 alone, we published 2,590 news articles and more than 23,000 comments from our readers. In 2014, our web traffic has grown tremendously to over 115,000 unique visitors per month.

We know you enjoy our in-depth coverage of state government and public policy issues.

Because of your support, we have created a membership program that we hope will help to further build the VTDigger community.

For different levels of membership we are offering limited edition bling — VTDigger bumper stickers, and baseball caps, subscriptions to the Daily Digger, invitations to VTDigger events, and an “Inside Scoop” newsletter for members. In addition, members will be entered to win free tickets to arts and cultural events (See images at left).

We need to raise $20,000 from 150 members by May 15.

Thanks to the 47 readers who became members last week, we only have $15,230 to go!

It’s because of support from readers like you that we have been able to expand our coverage of the Vermont Statehouse, state government, the environment, criminal justice, health care and business. We now have more beat reporters covering these issues than any other media outlet in Vermont, and we are also the only news outlet with a full-time environmental reporter on staff.

If you are an avid reader of VTDigger, please help us meet our goal and consider becoming a member today! Your membership donation is fully tax-deductible.

  • If you process through paypal why can’t we pay this way?? The point of paypal is so we don’t put our credit card info in every time. I have tried to do this twice now – and get stopped each time. I, like many people, am cautious when I put that info in!! Quick and easy hooks more people!!

    • Hi Pam,
      Thanks for this suggestion.
We are using paypal pro integration because it keeps readers on our site and it enables us to customize the page so we can promote membership. It also allows members to make monthly contributions.
      Sorry for the inconvenience.

      • Richard Ratico

I agree with Pam. If you leave the page you can always come back. No big deal. Monthly contributions may not be worth it if folks don’t want to submit their credit card numbers. 45 contributions so far is not very impressive. I started the process and stopped when asked for my CC info.

The point is that we are not being hooked! We are entering our data with thought and trust. Hooking is what politicians do.

Your credit card has insurance, does it not?
