Champlain College News:

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Champlain College today announced a new endowed scholarship fund established in memory of Sarah Elizabeth Ramsey, Class of 2012.

The Sarah Ramsey ’12 Strong Scholarship Fund was established by gifts from family and friends of Sarah Ramsey. The scholarship will support third or fourth year marketing students who have demonstrated strong academic performance and wish to expand their professional and international experiences while attending Champlain College. The scholarship will be awarded annually at the Stiller School of Business Honors event.

As a Marketing major with a specialization in Integrated Advertising, Sarah Ramsey studied for a semester in Lima, Peru during her junior year and went on to complete an eight-week advertising internship at the Blue Hive agency in Shanghai, China, prior to graduating from Champlain. Earlier this year, she died tragically after being struck by a car in Brooklyn, New York.

Friends and family of Sarah Ramsey chose to announce the Fund to coincide with the at the Oct. 1 film premiere of Captain Phillips, at Majestic 10 Theater in Williston with all proceeds from the public showing benefitting this new Fund. Cloud 9 Caterers and the Hindquarter catering truck was on campus Saturday for Family Weekend with proceeds going to the scholarship fund.

“Thanks to the generosity of Sarah’s friends and family, we’re excited to offer this scholarship opportunity to Champlain students,” said the Ramsey family. “Our hope is that students who receive the scholarship will help honor Sarah’s creative vision and drive, by sharing their own rewarding internship experiences with the Champlain community when they return from their program.”
