News Release — USDA Rural Development
Sept. 11, 2013
MONTPELIER — Effective October 1, 2013, United States Department of Agriculture will implement the 2010 Census Data for Rural Development Housing Programs. The result of this action will be a change in the eligible areas in the State of Vermont Rural Housing Service Programs can be used. Due to population increases in Colchester, Essex, and Milton, Rural Development Housing Programs will no longer be offered in these communities.
Potential applicants and USDA partner agencies can access the proposed area eligibility maps at http://eligibility.sc.egov.usda.gov/eligibility/welcomeAction.do. Simply click on the link, look to the left side of the page, and click on the appropriate section that you want to review. Vermont has been minimally impacted by this potential change as opposed to other States.
Rural Development will process applications for newly-ineligible areas only if the application is received and fully complete on or before September 30, 2013. Additional information regarding applications from newly-ineligible areas is available in this notice: RD AN 4711 (1940-L and RUS Staff Instructions 1780-2 and 1780-5), available at http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/SupportDocuments/an4711.pdf.
