Sugarbush Resort and Home Base Program partner to provide a day on the slopes to Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and families

Warren, VT (March 6, 2013) ­– Sugarbush Resort together with the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program will co-host over 75 military Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families for a free day of skiing and snowboarding on Sunday, March 10.

The event is designed to give military families from Vermont and throughout New England the opportunity to try a new sport, meet other military families and learn more about the Home Base Program and its services. Sugarbush Resort is providing lift tickets, instruction and space for the families attending to socialize and be a part of the special day on the mountain.

“Military families continue to offer tremendous sacrifices for which we are all deeply indebted and grateful,” said Win Smith, President of Sugarbush Resort. “Our ability to host Home Base Program and veterans is an honor and we hope to provide a great day of skiing and riding and a fun atmosphere for those attending.”

Home Base Program works to heal the “invisible wounds of war” – post traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury – and serves Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and families through clinical care, community education and research. Attendance to the event is by invitation only; the event is not open to the public. Participants include both able-bodied and adaptive skiers and snowboarders.

As part of the partnership Sugarbush Resort is helping to raise money for the Home Base Program to through a revenue share on March 10th. Half of the revenues generated through full price adult All Mountain lift tickets purchased with a coupon will donated by Sugarbush Resort to the Home Base Program. The revenue allocation allows those not affiliated with the ski day show their support for Home Base Program. To print your coupon, visit
