VTDigger.org is seeking an experienced and energetic web developer to code news applications and help us overhaul our rapidly evolving website.

Who are we?

VTDigger.org is a web publication of the Vermont Journalism Trust, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Based in Montpelier, VTDigger is dedicated to providing in-depth news coverage about Vermont politics, consumer affairs, business and public policy. Our investigative projects often gain national attention and consistently push the boundaries of journalism in the Green Mountain State. At a time when U.S. news outlets are struggling to survive, VTDigger aims to pioneer a balanced approach to document- and data-driven reporting.

What are we looking for?

VTDigger.org is seeking a highly qualified web developer to work in our fast-paced Montpelier office. At VTDigger, you will code news applications for the state’s leading web publication and tackle our programming tasks and challenges.

The web developer will work closely with our executive director/editor and is responsible for ensuring the highest quality web design and development.

The right applicant will be an adept coder who is fluent in css, html, ajax, javascript, wordpress and php integration. Good communication skills and work ethic are a must.

The duties of the web developer include but are not limited to:
• Front-end development and design
• Back-end integration with front-end design and development
• API integration
• Maintaining security
• Managing archival backups and updates to our WordPress install
• Managing the email subscription service, office network and hosting service
• Training staff to use new technical systems
• Graphic design as needed
