January 3, 2013 – Burlington, VT – Kids VT, Vermont’s free monthly parenting magazine, has hired a new managing editor — Carolyn Fox, formerly the calendar editor for Seven Days.

Carolyn joined the Seven Days team in April of 2009, after graduating from Champlain College with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. During her time at the independent newsweekly, she managed the statewide event listings, both in print and online, and wrote a regular column about the week’s happenings. Carolyn has also helped shape What’s Good, Seven Days’ annual college guide to Burlington; she edited the 2012 edition.

An avid baker, Carolyn frequently contributes food and arts stories to Seven Days.

In her new role at Kids VT, Carolyn will write and edit content for the magazine, for its website,, and for its weekly email newsletter, the Wee-Mail. She will also manage a growing group of staff and freelance contributors.

Seven Days purchased Kids VT in December of 2010 and has been transforming the publication ever since, mainly by focusing on Vermont-specific content produced by local writers. In March of 2012, the national Parenting Media Association recognized those efforts by honoring the magazine with several awards, including Best Overall Design and Best Overall Writing in its circulation class.

“We’re excited to promote Carolyn, and to see what she does with this new challenge,” says Kids VT co-publisher and executive editor Cathy Resmer, who is also an associate publisher of Seven Days.

Kids VT is a free publication, distributed each month at more than 500 locations in northwestern and central Vermont. Its comprehensive calendar and weekly email newsletter, the Wee-Mail, keep Vermont families up-to-date on the latest local events. Kids VT also hosts an annual camp and school fair — the next one takes place on Saturday, February 2, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Burlington Hilton.
