Vermont State Employees’ Association welcomes new executive director
Today, the Vermont State Employees’ Association (VSEA) welcomed its new executive director Mark Mitchell, who comes to Vermont from San Francisco where he worked most recently as a Labor Representative for the California Nurses Association (CNA). Mitchell succeeds Jes Kraus, who left the VSEA earlier this year to take a position at the University of Vermont.

No furloughs for some Vermont state workers
Voluntary furloughs (in which Vermont state workers choose to work and earn less) and private contract reductions are not generating anticipated savings. That’s in part, state and union officials say, because of previous cuts to labor.
VSEA reaches agreement with state on voluntary furlough program
Terry Lefebvre, chairperson of the Vermont State Employees’ Association’s (VSEA) Non-Management Unit (NMU) bargaining team, announced today that the union’s largest bargaining unit has reached agreement with the Shumlin Administration on a one-year “voluntary furlough” program.
