Lake Champlain flood damage estimates for roads and bridges top $6 million
As Lake Champlain water has receded, water is no longer crossing the traveled portions of Route 2 including the causeway leading to the Champlain Islands. Weather forecast for more rain this weekend and into next week could bring water levels back up. VTrans will continue to monitor the situation, and advise drivers to be mindful of possible changing road conditions.
Shumlin, Searles visit flooding sites on Lake Champlain
The Governor met with Searles at the causeway for an update after the Transportation Secretary had visited several areas of significant flooding around the state to assess road damage and repair efforts. At the Route 2 causeway, rock from quarries across the state were being trucked in and deposited to create a breakwater to protect the causeway from on-coming rain, wind and waves.

Modified Network Tied Arch Bridge design chosen for new Lake Champlain bridge
