Tasers, Nukes and Current Controversies in Law Enforcement

Vermont Attorney General

Attorney General Bill Sorrell will discuss current cases facing the State of Vermont including Vermont Yankee, police conduct regarding the use of tasers and police behavior in the face of civil liberties and civil disobedience. As Vermont’s lead law officer, Attorney General Sorrell will provide his insights
into what it means to consider civil liberties in the context of law enforcement.

Attorney General Sorrell was born and raised in Burlington, Vermont and received his AB, magna
cum laude, in 1970 from the University of Notre Dame, then earned his Juris Doctor from Cornell
Law School in 1974. Bill worked for over 10 years in private practice at McNeil, Murray & Sorrell.
