Man arrested for alleged stabbing at Charlie-O’s in Montpelier

Aggravated Assault

On December 21, 2013 at approximately 0109 hours the Montpelier Police Department received a report of a stabbing which occurred at Charlie O’s bar located at 70 Main Street in Montpelier, Vermont. Upon arrival to the scene officers met with the victim who advised he was not stabbed. The victim claimed he was punched in the stomach as a result of an argument with another patron at Charlie O’s. Officers met with the suspect who advised he did not hit anyone and that a brief shoving match occurred.

As a result of an investigation, officers learned the victim was stabbed. The victim was transported to the Central Vermont Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery for his injuries.

Andrew Gombar (30), of Montpelier, was arrested for aggravated assault. Gombar was lodged at the Barre City Police Department until his arraignment on December 23, 2013 at 12:30PM in Vermont Superior Court Washington Criminal Division.
