VTDigger is pleased to announce that Morgan True is joining the online news organization’s staff as a Statehouse reporter.
Anne Galloway, editor of VTDigger and executive director of the Vermont Journalism Trust, said True will bring enthusiasm, fresh eyes and reporting experience to the organization’s Statehouse coverage.
“Morgan will make a great addition to VTDigger’s scrappy team of journalists,” Galloway said. “He has innate curiosity, a keen intellect and an intense interest in public policy matters.”
True comes to VTDigger from The Brockton Enterprise, a daily newspaper in Massachusetts, where he covered government, schools and hospitals in a city of about 100,000 people.
“It’s great to be joining a dedicated team that’s committed to journalism in the public interest,” True said. “I’m excited to be a part of an innovative and growing organization, and I look forward to contributing to the coverage that has made VTDigger a respected news source for Vermonters.”
Before joining The Enterprise, True worked for The Associated Press in Concord, N.H., where he served as a relief reporter in the Statehouse.
The addition of True bolsters VTDigger’s nonprofit mission of providing comprehensive online news coverage of Vermont government, politics, consumer affairs, business and public policy. He joins reporters Alicia Freese, Hilary Niles and John Herrick, and editors Anne Galloway, Tom Brown and Cate Chant. True replaces Andrew Stein, who joined the staff of State Auditor Doug Hoffer.
True previously worked for The Quincy (Mass.) Patriot Ledger and as an intern at the Worcester (Mass.) Telegram & Gazette. He has a B.S. in Journalism from Boston University. He grew up in the Seattle area.
