Gov. Peter Shumlin dashed down to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday to meet with labor leaders and to do some Democratic Governors Association (DGA) business.
VTDigger learned of the governor’s trip through a tweet from Vermont Public Radio’s managing producer, Patti Daniels. Daniels spotted Shumlin on the flight from Burlington to D.C.
Shumlin’s press secretary, Sue Allen, said the DGA, which Shumlin chairs, paid for the governor’s ticket and he traveled without his staff for a day-long visit.
Shumlin, along with members of Vermont’s congressional delegation, “will be discussing issues like prevailing wage legislation with labor leaders in the Building Trades industry,” Allen said.
The governor will also be meeting with DGA staff before flying back to Vermont on Tuesday evening.
