1% for the Planet Ambassador to conclude three-month “Off the Grid Across America” cycling initiative for sustainability at member Timbers Restaurant at Sugarbush Resort
Warren, VT — On August 1, 2013, Rob Greenfield will complete his 4,500 mile “Off the Grid Across America” biking initiative with a welcome party at 1% for the Planet member, Sugarbush Resort’s Timbers Restaurant in Warren, VT. Greenfield, an adventurer, world traveler, and 1% for the Planet Ambassador, left San Francisco on Earth Day in April 2013 and has since cycled through 18 states, raising funds and awareness for a sustainable lifestyle, the 1% for the Planet network, and environmental nonprofits throughout the country.
Rob has been cycling cross-country completely off the grid, setting a goal to create minimal amounts of trash along the way. Throughout his journey, Rob used water that would have gone to waste from leaky faucets and fire hydrants during a heat wave, ate locally produced and organic food, and used electricity that was generated solely from portable alternative energy devices.
Rob will arrive at the 1% for the Planet headquarters in Waitsfield at 11 a.m. and he and supporters from 1% for the Planet, Sugarbush, and local cycling organizations will cycle together up German Flats Road to Timbers Restaurant at Sugarbush for Rob’s official welcome and lunch. Timbers Restaurant, a 1% for the Planet business member, will welcome Rob to Vermont at the end of his journey.
