South Burlington, VT – The Chittenden County Republican Party will host the 1st Annual “George Schiavone Legislative Appreciation Night,” tomorrow (May 23) at the DoubleTree Hotel at 6:30pm in South Burlington. The event draws Republicans from all over the state, as well as many House and Senate Republicans.

“I think we have fallen out of the habit of thanking our Legislators for their sacrifice. They miss time with their family, are away from their businesses, and work long-hours when representing their constituents and the state of Vermont,” said Jeff Bartley, Chair of the Chittenden County Republican Party. “Republicans all around the state want to thank them for their hard work.”

The event was named after longtime Representative, Republican Party leader, and Chittenden County resident George Schiavone. It is a cocktail reception, meant not to reflect on the Legislative session but rather to provide an evening of entertainment and camaraderie.

“George Schiavone has always been a great friend and a dedicated Republican Party leader,” continued Bartley. “In 2012, he stepped down as our National Committeeman, and I can think of no better way to honor him and his wife Linda, than to use his name to encourage our Legislators and honor their work.”

At the event, the first “George Schiavone Legislator of the Year” award will be handed out. While the name remains a secret, the winner is a well-respected person on both sides of the aisle.

  1. Stan Hopson :

The same Jeff Bartley who is suing 2010 Republican US Senate Candidate Len Britton he managed in Windsor Civil Court June 2nd?

By the looks of this press release, Britton should be suing him. “Contect” Britton and see if he’s showing for the 1st annual gala.

  2. Stan Hopson :

Not to beat a dead horse here, but as a Vermont Republican, it’s been a painful exercise watching our minority party splinter. Healthy dialogue among dissenting factions is worthwhile, what I and so many other don’t appreciate, is the “us versus them” mentality prevalent today.

So here you have the Chairman of the State’s biggest county hosting a unity dinner at the same time he’s suing another top ticket Republican who ran an honorable race.

Good grief people, get your act together.
