Morrisville — Copley Hospital is pleased to announce the receipt of a generous donation of $10,000 from Stowe Charities, Inc. The donation is half of the net proceeds from Stowe Charities’ signature event, the 2012 Stowe Wine and Food Classic. “The Classic” is held each year in the fields at the Trapp Family Lodge. In its 14 year history, the event has raised close to $250,000 for Vermont charities. The 2012 event raised funds for the Vermont Foodbank and Copley Hospital.
According to Stowe Charities, attendance for the full slate of weekend activities increased this year as the event has become the premier food and wine event in the North East attracting some of the region’s top chefs and restaurants.
The 2012 event paired featured signature dishes from Vermont’s leading chefs with top rated wines from around the world, including the featured wineries of Ravenswood and Bedrock. The weekend was kicked off with a tasting at the West Branch Gallery in Stowe before moving to the Trapp Family Lodge for artisanal cheese and local craft beer pairings, an oyster and wine seminar, a Gala Saturday night dinner and the Sunday Grand Tasting event. The 15th annual Stowe Wine and Food Classic is schedule to be held June 21-23, 2013 at the Trapp Family Lodge.
“We are thrilled that the event continues to grow not only in attendance but also in profile so that we can spread the word about the great work done by our beneficiary charities,” said the incoming President of Stowe Charities, Inc. Donna Cox-Davies. “And as we broaden the reach of the event with visitors coming from New York, Boston, Montreal and across the US, we can also profile the world class chefs and vendors from Vermont.”
Donna is the owner of D2 Solutions, LLC, a Morrisville-based marketing communications and public relations agency. Drawing on her years of charity work and fund raising experience in both the US and Canada, Donna became involved in the event’s planning committee two years ago and was named to the Stowe Charities Board of Directors last year. Donna replaces the Board’s outgoing Chairman Ed Schwarz of Fine Wine Cellars.
