In a speech to supporters. TJ Donovan says he sees no reason to “drag this out.” He called Vermont Attorney General Bill Sorrell an hour ago to congratulate him on his victory.

“I offered to work on his re-election campaign this November,” Donovan said. “This was a hard-fought campaign, and I’m proud of the fact we engaged thousands of Vermonters.”

Ryan Emerson, Donovan’s campaign manager, said they wanted to “respect the process,” and so they waited to hear the numbers this morning before making a decision. Once a few towns came in, they realized the rest of towns were small, and they wouldn’t be able to make up the 600 vote gap.
