CORRECTION: The original data contained an error, which had Randy Brock with over $547,327 cash in hand, when in fact he has $247,327. This was due to the fact that Brock reported his $300,000 loan to himself twice, both in the contributions from immediate family section and also in the loan section, unlike other statewide candidates, who did not duplicate any loan figures in the contributions from immediate family section.
Below are graphs and tables depicting summary figures from the latest campaign finance filings submitted on July 16, for all Democratic and Republican statewide candidates. Progressive candidates Martha Abbot, Marjorie Powers, and Don Schramm are not included because they did not submit campaign finance reports before the 5 p.m. deadline on July 16.
The tables from which the data is drawn are available in Excel spreadsheet format, below. They can be downloaded and sorted so that each category of interest can be ranked from highest to lowest and vice versa. Information was compiled by manual entry, with the cash in hand category derived automatically by calculating (Total Amount Raised to Date MINUS Total Amount Spent to Date PLUS Amount Carried Forward from Previous Campaigns PLUS Total Amount of Loans to Date).
Gov. Peter Shumlin’s summary figures are taken from his amended campaign finance report filed on July 17, rather than his original submission of July 16.
Among other highlights, the graphs clearly show:
1) Randy Brock had the highest number of unique small donors;
2) Beth Pearce spent almost as much as candidates in the two most competitive races, the gubernatorial and attorney general races;
3) Cassandra Gekas spent less than Jack McMullen, despite the fact that McMullen has raised $0 for his campaign so far.
