Supporters of Vermont Yankee to hold rally Saturday March 17 outside the plant gates
On Saturday March 17 Supporters of Vermont Yankee will rally from 5:00- 6:30 pm outside the front gate at Vermont Yankee.
“We need to show Vermont that a lot of people are happy that the plant will continue to operate, and the workers are appreciated,” said co-organizer Meredith Angwin, director of the Energy Education Project of the Ethan Allen Institute. “We will be there to support Vermont Yankee and nuclear energy!”
Saturday March 17 is St Patrick’s Day. We will have some signs, but rally participants should think about making their own signs. For example: “Celebrating GREEN power on St. Patrick’s Day!”
Howard Shaffer is lead organizer of the rally. He is co-ordinator of the Vermont Pilot Project of the American Nuclear Society. “Plant opponents are always having rallies and vigils at the plant. We want to show the people who work at the plant that many people support the plant and support their efforts. We are grateful to Entergy for giving us permission to be near the Governor Hunt House for the rally.”
