  1. Much like State Troopers, these hard-working men and women cover enormous territories (some of them increasing in the past few years due to resource/staff cutbacks)across Vermont. And by all counts, it’s not getting any easier out there. Nice profile piece about a group of public employees who continue to provide a valuable service to all Vermonters!

  2. Great article, thanks.

  3. If Entergy ran this agency they would be telling Mr. Gregory that his truck is just fine and can easily run for another 75,000 miles.

  4. Wardens are greatly un appreciated, I worked in law enforcement starting with the military police in Korea in 1954. What most people don’t think of is in most cases offenders are armed with a high powered rifle This is a condition most law enforcement officers seldom do not encounter in their work. On the lost brakes, a similar incident occurred to me coming down from Chittenden Reservoir
about twenty years ago, I operated a boat rental and it was the fourth of July week end. I started down the hill with the boat behind my dodge dart and the pedal went to the floor. I pulled the shift lever into low gear, yanked the emergency brake to slow the wheels and came down the hill in low gear at an idle using the emergency brake only when absolutely necessary. All ended well and I got to the bottom safely. By using both, accidents can be avoided.

Comment policy

VTD requires that all commenters identify themselves by first and last name. You may wonder why we don't accept anonymous comments. The short answer is: We want to keep the discourse civil.

You might rightly ask, since most online newspapers accept anonymous posts from readers, what makes VTD so special?

The long answer is: Anonymous comments don't support our mission. We are a nonprofit news organization dedicated to enhancing democracy through in-depth journalism. Our role is to foster a civil online discourse, and one very simple and effective way to do that is to require commenters to identify themselves. This isn't a new idea, of course. This is the way newspapers have treated letters to the editor since time immemorial.

As a result of our comment policy, VTD has created a safe zone for readers who want to engage in a thoughtful discussion on a range of subjects. We hope you join the conversation.
