Montpelier, VT- The House Committee on Government Operations of the Vermont General Assembly will convene a public hearing on Wednesday, November 2 at 6:00 PM in Rutland City at the Rutland Intermediate School. This hearing is being held to afford the public an opportunity to offer comments on the Legislative Apportionment Board’s proposal for reapportioning House districts so as to reflect population changes recorded in the 2010 United States decennial census. In accordance with 17 V.S.A. § 1903(a), “The house of representatives and the senate shall be reapportioned and redistricted on the basis of population during the biennial session after the taking of each decennial census of the United States.” This hearing is one in a series that the committee will hold this fall across the state of Vermont and will focus on the Board’s proposed House districts for the towns of Rutland County and the Windsor County towns of Ludlow, Plymouth, and Weston.
