Bray Wins Record Five Endorsements
Consensus Emerges as Bray Becomes Democratic Frontrunner
(New Haven) In a single day this week, State Representative Chris Bray emerged from the field of all candidates running for Lieutenant Governor to become its frontrunner.
Bray has now received endorsements from papers around the state, including two dailies, the St Albans Messenger and Bennington Banner, as well as from the weeklies the Addison Independent, Herald of Randolph, and Manchester Journal.
“I am humbled and excited both,” said Bray, “to receive these editorial board endorsements. The corps of senior editors, writers, and publishers who make these determinations are like the village elders of our day—they have all been in the business for 30 or more years, they care deeply about our state, and they are not taken in by rhetoric. There’s only one way to win their endorsement: have a solid plan for moving the state forward backed up by a track record of getting the job done.”
The endorsements have all cited Bray’s non-partisan style that has repeatedly brought people together and enabled him to pass ten bills in the last four years— a performance that one paper called “an enviable record for the most seasoned of legislators.”
Bray’s work includes passing major bills on rebuilding our food system, developing our biomass energy industry, helping agriculture diversify, and getting more fresh food into our schools.
Bray’s Farm to Plate Initiative is working to increase by 10% the amount of food Vermont grows for itself over the next 10 years. “This is a great program,” said Bray, “because we can not only cut medical costs and improve our health by eating better, we can also strengthen our local economy. Good food is also good business.”
With four days left in the campaign, Bray plans to continue his campaigning with more door to door visits with voters as well as trips to numerous farmer’s markets and other public events.
“Talking with voters is both a great way to learn and a satisfying experience,” said Bray. “Voters all around the state are telling me this campaign is on the right track with its message of stepping up and doing more for ourselves. Vermont has a bright future when we focus on our unique assets: local businesses, renewable energy, and local food.”
Bray lives with his family on a farm in New Haven. Now in his fourth session, Bray serves on the Vermont House Agriculture Committee, Vermont Milk Commission, Biomass Energy Development Group, and Rural Economic Development Working Group. He is also a Justice of the Peace and UVM trustee.
