  1. Again I find it necessary to point out that Matt and /or his staff has failed to do his/their home work. He claims the loss was on Dubie’s watch. When in reality the losses were under the watch of a General Assembly/Legislature that has held a Democratic Majority of 2:1 for the past approx. 8 years. Governors and Lt. Governors hands are virtually tied with that kind of majority, for the Assembly/Legislature has the power to overturn the Governor at anytime, and as we have seen the past few years they have been pretty active at doing so. With all due respect perhaps Matt needs to retake his Civic/history Classes.

Matt let us lay the blame where it belongs, in the hands of those with the real power in this state-the Assembly/Legislature.

  2. Boy, Ms. Ackermann sure hit the nail on the head. People have got to wake up to the fact that it is the Legislature that holds the real power over the Executive Branch and Agencies in this state. Just as Congress holds the real power over the President. If people would wake to that fact and vote accordingly, there would be “real change” not only in Vermont, but in the Nation. Our leaders can do nothing in reality without the approval of the Legislature/Congress. Thank you Ms. Ackermann for bringing that out. Mr. Dunne are you listening???????

Comment policy

VTD requires that all commenters identify themselves by first and last name. You may wonder why we don't accept anonymous comments. The short answer is: We want to keep the discourse civil.

You might rightly ask, since most online newspapers accept anonymous posts from readers, what makes VTD so special?

The long answer is: Anonymous comments don't support our mission. We are a nonprofit news organization dedicated to enhancing democracy through in-depth journalism. Our role is to foster a civil online discourse, and one very simple and effective way to do that is to require commenters to identify themselves. This isn't a new idea, of course. This is the way newspapers have treated letters to the editor since time immemorial.

As a result of our comment policy, VTD has created a safe zone for readers who want to engage in a thoughtful discussion on a range of subjects. We hope you join the conversation.
