  1. While this is the most detailed and realistic road map forward that I’ve seen, I especially liked Matt’s analysis of where we are now and how we got here.
Without a good understanding of current assets and liabilities, future plans are just empty promises.

  2. It shows that he has a great grasp of the state’s overall economic condition, where it should go, and how it got to where it now is. Douglas/Dubie only want their kinds of businesses in the state, and those to profit off of taxpayer dollars, and do not want anything of what Matt says here.

  3. What Matt fails to point out is that between 2005 and 2010-the majority party in the Assembly. Further between 2007 and 2010 the Democrats have held almost a 2:1 Ratio in The General Assembly. The General Assembly has the power to over turn and/or reject any and all proposals of the Governor. Therefore at anytime they could reverse any “Alleged” shortfalls of the Douglas Administration. This begs the question why didn’t they? Why is Matt just now putting forth his plan/analysis? Could it be just to get re-elected?
Again we have an example of the lack of real action by the majority of our representation which appears to be the norm.

Comment policy

VTD requires that all commenters identify themselves by first and last name. You may wonder why we don't accept anonymous comments. The short answer is: We want to keep the discourse civil.

You might rightly ask, since most online newspapers accept anonymous posts from readers, what makes VTD so special?

The long answer is: Anonymous comments don't support our mission. We are a nonprofit news organization dedicated to enhancing democracy through in-depth journalism. Our role is to foster a civil online discourse, and one very simple and effective way to do that is to require commenters to identify themselves. This isn't a new idea, of course. This is the way newspapers have treated letters to the editor since time immemorial.

As a result of our comment policy, VTD has created a safe zone for readers who want to engage in a thoughtful discussion on a range of subjects. We hope you join the conversation.
