Dubie Honored to Get Unanimous Endorsement of Fire Fighters’ Union

Essex Junction, VT – Brian Dubie is excited to welcome the support of the Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont, which today announced it has unanimously endorsed Dubie’s campaign for governor.

“I have tremendous respect for the work these brave men and women do,” Dubie said. “Their commitment to serving their communities is an inspiration, and I am honored to have their support in my campaign for governor of Vermont.”

The union represents fire fighters, EMTs and paramedics from 12 municipal departments across Vermont – Barre City, Barre Town EMTs, Bellows Falls, Brattleboro, Burlington, Hartford, Montpelier, Rutland City, St. Johnsbury, South Burlington, Springfield and Williston. They respond to 45,000 emergency calls a year and cover an estimated 40 percent of the state’s population.

“Brian cares about Vermont communities, and that’s important to us,” said Matt Vinci, a captain with the South Burlington Fire Dept. and president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont. “The ability to deliver effective and efficient emergency services across Vermont is critical. We have worked through several issues with Brian as chair of the Governor’s Homeland Security Advisory Council to be able to ensure Vermont is a safe place to live, work and raise a family.”

Vinci noted the union considered all candidates, but said Brian Dubie has relationships and lines of communications that have been established with the union’s members over many years.

“This is not about party affiliation,” Vinci said, noting the union had also endorsed Democrats Steve Howard for Lt. Governor and Jim Condos for Secretary of State. “That points to the credibility of our process. It’s about who has been there for us and for the issues important to our members being able to deliver vital services to Vermonters.”

Vinci said the union’s members will be working hard until November campaigning for Brian Dubie. “Our members are very engaged in the political process,” he said. “We’re a small organization but have an immense amount of resources. We are excited about working from all corners of the state to ensure Brian is our next governor.”

Fire fighters will be knocking on doors, waving signs, and working on Dubie’s behalf to get voters to the polls. Every candidate the union has endorsed in a statewide race has gone on to victory on Election Day.

“Brian connects very well with my members,” Vinci said. “His time serving our country, his affiliation with a union as a captain with American Airlines, his values for the issues important to working Vermonters – all of it came together for our unanimous endorsement.”

Howard receives prized endorsement

The Professional Firefighters of Vermont officially endorse Steve Howard

Rutland, VT. – The Professional Firefighters of Vermont have officially endorsed the campaign of Steve Howard for Lt. Governor. After a thorough review of all candidates running for Lt. Governor, the firefighters unanimously endorsed Steve Howard because they thought that he was the candidate best to serve Vermont as its next Lt. Governor. “My members across the state have a great working relationship with Steve, he has been there to support the issues that impact how we deliver emergency services across Vermont, he shares our values and he has a history of fighting for us”, said Matt Vinci, president of the Professional Firefighters of Vermont.

“I am deeply honored to have the endorsement of the Professional Firefighters of Vermont. They are a great organization and I have always fought hard to protect their values and interests”, Steve said. “The momentum for our campaign to redefine the Lt. Governors office and put middle-class values back in the drivers seat in Montpelier continues to grow.” The firefighters history of supporting candidates from both sides of the aisle speaks to the strength of Steve’s campaign. The PFFV joins the Vermont AFL-CIO, and the Vermont State Employees Association in their enthusiastic support for Steve’s campaign to bring Middle Class Values to the office of Lt. Governor.

The Professional Firefighters also endorsed Lt. Governor Brian Dubie’s campaign for Governor and former State Senator Jim Condos for Secretary of State.

Condos Endorsed by the Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont

Montpelier, VT – Jim Condos is proud to have the support of the Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont, which announced it has voted unanimously to support his campaign to be Vermont’s next Secretary of State.
“One of the first things I did when I was first elected to the South Burlington City Council was to find out what our firefighters needed to do their jobs well,” said Condos. “Their heroic efforts for our communities underscore their vital role, and I am truly thrilled to have their support for my campaign.”

“Jim’s local government background really gives him a keen insight into our issues, and that’s important to us,” said Matt Vinci, a captain with the South Burlington Fire Dept. and president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont. “His tireless advocacy of our issues in both the city council and state senate has shown us that he has truly been a friend to us and our issues.”

All candidates running for the office of Secretary of State were interviewed, but due to his long standing relationship and backing for Firefighters, Condos stood above the rest, noted Vinci.

The union’s membership will be working hard to campaign for Jim Condos for both the August 24th Democratic Primary and the General Election in November. “We may not be the largest group of people, but we are extremely active and committed to the candidates we support” said Vinci. “We will be getting out into our communities to let voters know that we support Jim Condos.”
Jim Condos was a member of the South Burlington City Council from 1989-2007, including 8 years as Chairman, and also a State Senator from Chittenden County from 2001-2008. He is a candidate for Vermont Secretary of State.
