WHITE RIVER JUNCTION – The Matt Dunne for Governor campaign officially released the endorsement today of Bill McKibben via a video McKibben recorded for the Dunne for Governor website.
McKibben, a Ripton resident, is a globally known environmentalist and author. He is also the leader and founder of 350.org, an international climate campaign.
McKibben endorsed Dunne not just for his positions on environmental issues, but because he believes Dunne has the background, energy and experience to move Vermont forward on a wide variety of issues including health care, agriculture and the economy. McKibben praised Dunne as the candidate who, “offers the promise of actually doing something.”
The video McKibben recorded can be found at www.mattdunne.com/McKibbenSplash2.html.
“Vermont is in a pretty big hole. Fiscal hole. Energy hole. And I think we’re going to need some real new fresh thinking. And when I look around the political landscape, it doesn’t look like there is anything fresher than what Matt’s offering,” McKibben says in the video.
“To listen to Matt talk about the possibilities for self-insuring the State of Vermont, well, that’s the most creative way out of the health care mess that anyone’s come up with in a while. It really makes sense.”
McKibben’s support shows momentum for Dunne. McKibben’s endorsement also shows supporters are lining up behind Dunne because they believe he is the candidate who brings fresh ideas and a new approach to Vermont politics.
“This campaign is about laying out a vision for a better Vermont. It is an honor to have such a prominent grassroots voice endorsing me in my race for Governor,” Dunne said.
